Our store...
Freeman Leather Co. is based on over twenty years of leather crafting.
Stan began learning the leather trade as a policeman who couldn't find a left handed holster to his liking. He decided to make his own. He learned the art of hand sewing and found he was hooked on the craft. While almost every item we make still requires some hand sewing, most of the sewing is now done on a machine.
However there is no substitute for the art of hand carving and hand stamping. Looking at our pictures you will see that Stan is a gifted artist.
Stan believes in using the best American leather and creating each item to fit the customer's individual need.

Dayton, Ohio

Freeman Leather Co. started in Dayton,Ohio. Stan grew here and spent most of his adult life as a policeman. Many people in this part of the country have visited his shop there or have seen his work. But Stan had always dreamed to moving out west.

Whitefish, Montana
Stan passed through Whitefish,Montana over ten years ago on a cross country motorcyle trip. That was it for him. He decided then that this was the place he wanted to retire to and continue his love of creating quality leather goods.
He made this dream a reality in 1997. Stan moved to Whitefish,Montana and opened a store in downtown Whitefish.
Stan enjoyed Whitefish,the friendly people there and the beautiful country. He made many friends and peolpe there are acquinted with his work.
Unfortunatly,the first winter passed with no snow and the downward sprial of the Canadian dollar.
This forced the closure of the Whitefish store and the return to Dayton to regroup.
The good news is that Freeman Leather Co. is alive and returning to Montana sometime in 2001.
